Vandal Cosmetics Rhude Matte Lip Kit

Well hello again! I figured it’s time to revive the blog, and what better way to do it with some new (to me, anyway) lip kits!

I always try to support smaller brands, especially those that are cruelty-free and vegan, so Vandal Cosmetics’ Matte Lip Kits seemed like great new products to try. I’ll slowly but surely be reviewing all of them, but I wanted to start off with Rhude. Lighter nude matte liquid lipsticks always seem to be the least forgiving, so I thought that this would be a great shade to start with and I’m definitely impressed!

If you guys want to keep up with what I’m testing and the looks I create, make sure to follow me on Instagram @ lesley_makeup, and subscribe to the blog so you get emails whenever I post a new review!

First off, the way this lip kit is packaged is so nice! Not only does it look lovely, but the products are also packaged in a way that protects them from being damaged during shipping. I do wish that the insert that holds the products in place was made of a more easily recyclable material like the box itself is, but that’s really my only complaint!

Vandal Cosmetics claims that their liquid lipstick formula is long-wearing, waterproof, and smudge-resistant, and I can happily attest that it lives up to their claims! The products themselves are very high quality, and I love that the lip liner is the twist-up, retractable kind. The colors of the Rhude liner and liquid lipstick work perfectly together, and they are both a light, warm, yellow based, peachy nude. The liner has a silky texture and glides on easily without tugging at the lip or having to go over it numerous times to get a defined, pigmented line. Rhude liquid lipstick is equally fantastic, too! It has a lightweight feel without being too thin and watery, or too thick and goopy. It applies very easily thanks to the small, doe-foot applicator similar to the ones seen with most liquid lipstick formulas, and because the formula doesn’t set too quickly, you have time to play around with it and blend it out if needed. Once it does set, it seems to stay very slightly tacky, but I feel like that probably has something to do with the fact that it didn’t dry out my lips at all, so the tackiness isn’t a dealbreaker for me. Rhude liquid lipstick is full coverage using very little product and it offers a very even type of coverage, which can be difficult to find in a lot of light, nude, matte liquid lipsticks. I only had this on for 6 hours, but it stayed in place until I removed it and only faded near the center of my lip when I ate dinner. Touching up was easy, though, and it didn’t pill up or look weird where I reapplied it.

While I’m pale enough that this looks flattering on me, I know that this type of nude may be a little light for some people. If that’s the case, you can always use a deeper liner with the liquid lipstick, or choose a darker nude tone lip kit, which Vandal Cosmetics definitely has! I’ll be reviewing the others in future posts, so keep an eye out for those!

The Rhude Matte Lip Kit from Vandal Cosmetics is available from www.vandalcosmetics.com and sells for $25. The retractable lip liner contains 0.3 g / 0.01 oz of product, while the matte liquid lipstick contains 5 g / 0.18 oz. These products are parben-free, cruelty-free, and vegan.

Swatchmas Day 23: My Top 5 Liquid Set Lipsticks from Melt Cosmetics

On the twenty-third day of Swatchmas, I give you my five favorite Liquid Set Lipsticks from Melt Cosmetics! I know I’ve said it a million times before, but I LOVE Melt and LOVE their liquid lipstick formula! It’s very liquidy, but not runny, and it’s extremely pigmented so a little bit goes a long way. Once it’s set, it’s a beautiful matte finish and wears well all day, as long as you stay away from eating oily or greasy foods (but that’s how any liquid lip is).

Melt’s Liquid Set Lipsticks each contain, on average, 3.36 ml / .11 oz of product and sell for $19 each from the Melt Cosmetics website. They do have sales from time to time, though, so if you sign up for their emails and you’ll know when you can get these at a discounted price! Melt Cosmetics is a cruelty-free brand and ALL of these liquid lipsticks are vegan!

The Liquid Set Lipsticks featured in this post are:

  • Rebound: Sensual tuscan red (aka literally the perfect rosy lip) 3.12 ml / .10 oz
  • Roc: Deep warm rose (also another perfect rosy lip) 3.75 ml / .13 oz
  • Death Cherry: True deep cherry red (flattering red on EVERYONE) 3.66 ml / .12 oz
  • Velvet Room: Deep black cherry (perfect dark lip on all skintones) 3.17 ml / .107 oz
  • Bellastona: Candy apple red (bright, pinky red great for summer) 3.12 ml / .10 oz

Swatchmas Day 5: My Top 5 TIME Los Angeles Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks

On the fifth day of Swatchmas, I give you my five favorite Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks from TIME Los Angeles. When it comes to matte liquid lipsticks, these are always the first ones I reach for, both for myself and in my freelance kit, so I had to share them with you guys!

TIME’s Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks have a thin, but highly pigmented formula, so they never feel sticky or heavy on the lips and are very easy to apply, comfortable, and long wearing. Each tube contains 6.3 g / 0.22 fl. oz of product and sells for $16 individually, although you can get some of these in sets, which costs $60 for 6 Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks. TIME Los Angeles is a cruelty-free brand.

My Top 5 Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks are:

  • Blushbaby:   A mid-tone dusty mauve (vegan)
  • Crimson:   A deep dark red
  • Lookin’ Cute, Feelin’ Cute:   A deep brown nude
  • Corruption:   A deep oxblood plum
  • Velvet Rouge:   A soft rouge color

Swatchmas Day 23: My Top 5 Melt Cosmetics Lipsticks

On the twenty-third day of Swatchmas, I give you my five favorite lipsticks from Melt Cosmetics! I know, I know… It’s another Melt post, but I’ve been using the lipsticks from this brand since literally the first week they came out and to this day, I still tend to reach for them before any other brand of regular, bullet-type lipsticks. Their pigmentation is insane and their formula may be incredibly matte, but they’re still very comfortable to wear all day long. These five colors aren’t necessarily the ones I’m using the most at the moment, but I went through all of them and these are the one that I’ve used the most over time. I hope that you all like these as much as I do.

If you want to pick up some lipsticks from Melt, you can head to their website at http://www.meltcosmetics.com. Each lipstick sells for $19 and contains about 4 g / 0.14 oz of product. Melt Cosmetics is  cruelty free company and all of the lipsticks featured in this post are vegan.

  • Lucretia:   Blood red mixed with demure nude aka warm toned, rosy pink (ultra-matte)

Swatchmas Day 18: My Top 5 Melt Cosmetics Lip Liners

On the eighteenth day of Swatchmas, I give you my five favorite AllDay/Everyday Lip Pencils from Melt Cosmetics! I know there’s a lot of Melt posts during Swatchmas, but they’re a brand that I really love and these five lip pencils are present in both my personal collection and in my professional makeup kit. They’re very versatile and can be used with a variety of lipsticks and on many different skin tones, so if you’re wanting to try Melt’s lip pencils for the very first time, perhaps one of these will be something you’d fall in love with too!

You can purchase these from www.meltcosmetics.com for $17 each. Melt’s AllDay/Everyday Lip Liners contain 1.20 g / 0.04 oz of product. Melt Cosmetics is a cruelty free company and all of the lip liners featured in this post are vegan.

Swatchmas Day 16: Dose of Colors x Disney Lip It Up Satin Lipsticks

On the sixteenth day of Swatchmas, I give you the three Lip It Up Satin Lipsticks from the Dose of Colors x Disney Mickey Mouse collection! I love this formula because it’s pigmented and creamy, so it’s very comfortable to wear, especially during the winter when my lips are dry and need a little extra nourishment.

You can purchase these lipsticks from www.doseofcolors.com, Ulta, or Naimie’s. Each one sells for $17 and contains 3.12 g / 0.11 oz of product. Dose of Colors is a cruelty free company and all three of these lipsticks are vegan.

Swatchmas Day 2: MAC Viva Glam Lipsticks

On the second day of Swatchmas, I give you MAC’s permanent range of Viva Glam Lipsticks! These lipsticks are formulated to be universally flattering, meaning that anyone (all ages, all races, all genders) can wear any of these colors and pull it off.

Every cent from the purchase of MAC’s Viva Glam Lipsticks goes directly to the MAC AIDS Fund, so if you buy one of these, or if you have in the past, you’re helping people out who are living with HIV and AIDS on top of getting an awesome lipstick for yourself. Since World AIDS Day was yesterday, I probably should have posted this then… Whoops!

If you want to see a video of Ashley trying on all of these, plus the Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks from the Tropical Bundle, click here for her YouTube video. In the video, she tries these on with L.A. Girl liners, which are SUPER cheap, but very good quality, so that’s definitely worth watching.

The Nude Spectrum bundle is available online at www.shoptimela.com. You can purchase all six of these together for only $60, or you can buy them individually for $16 each. You save $36 by buying them as a bundle, so it’s a really good deal! Each Luxe Matte Liquid Lipstick contains 6.6 ml / 0.22 fl oz of product, so you’re getting a lot of lipstick for a pretty low price… When compared to the prices of other, larger brands and amount of product you get in their liquid lipsticks, you’re getting nearly twice as much product for about $5 less when you buy TIME’s Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks… Soooo like I said, it’s kind of a steal! These are all cruelty-free and were not tested on any furry friends ❤

Oh, and I almost forgot, if you’re a professional makeup artist, you may be eligible for TIME’s Pro program, so you can save a little bit of money if you want to add these to your kit!

SONY DSC
Top to Bottom: Sweet Tooth, 619, Luv U A Latte, I’m Forever Yours, Lookin’ Cute, Feelin’ Cute, and Corruption

Overall, the formula for these is excellent. It’s consistent between all six shades in this bundle, as well as being consistent with the other Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks from TIME Los Angeles. They’re all very highly pigmented, so you don’t need to apply a lot of product or add layer upon layer. It usually only takes one, maybe two dips into the tube to get full coverage on both my top and bottom lip. On the TIME website, the formula is described as being “whipped, creamy, and lightweight”, which is spot on! These wear SO well without feeling dry, cakey, or “cracking” like a lot of other matte and/or liquid lipsticks do. They glide right onto the lips with the small, doe foot applicator, which is very easy to use. The six shades in the Nude Spectrum bundle actually have a larger, more curved doe foot applicator than the rest of TIME’s liquid lipsticks do. I’m pretty sure this is a new thing they’re trying out, but I really like them and feel like they’re a even more precise than the other applicators are, so I hope they incorporate these into their other Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks in the future!

Another great thing about TIME’s Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks is the fact that you have a little time to play with it and blend it out, or into your liner, before it sets. You can also layer these once they dry down without any clumping or flaking going on. Just make sure that you give these 30-60 seconds to set and don’t rub or press your lips together! Once it’s dry, it’s not going anywhere, but it takes a moment to set. While these liquid lipsticks are not 100% transfer-proof, they are transfer-resistant (so like, 95%, probably not gonna transfer). You may find a little bit on your straw or coffee mug, or it may fade more quickly if you’re eating something oily like pizza, but it’s not going to get all over your honey if you go in for a quick smooch.

For a testament of how these wear: I decided to see what Sweet Tooth would look like over Chestnut Lip Pencil from MAC, and it’s been on the back of my hand for hmm, 9 hours now? I can’t count how many times I’ve washed my hands, plus I took a shower and there’s definitely still a little bit of product lingering on my skin. I think that if you want to layer this over a lip liner, it will extend the wear time significantly. Not only does the liquid lipstick have a more dry base to stick to by doing that, but it also sort of seals in the liner, so it won’t go anywhere either! Even though these wear insanely well, and for a really long time, NONE of the Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks stain, and they all come off easily with a makeup wipe or remover, like an oil or micellar water.

I do recommend making sure you’ve gently exfoliated your lips prior to applying these, or any matte/liquid lipstick, just to make sure you get the smoothest, most even application possible. If your lips are dry or chapped, this type of formula can stick to any rough patches, so popping on a bit of lip balm will help too! I like using something like Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask, and applying it right after I get out of the shower, so it has time to soak in before I put on my lipstick!

SONY DSC

The packaging for these is super cute! The boxes feature TIME’s name and hourglass, as well as their signature lipstick logo. The tubes themselves are clear, so you can easily see the product, and have a golden cap, details, and logo. I’m a sucker for packaging… I always want everything to look clean and professional in my kit as well as in my personal makeup collection, so I love it when a brand keeps it classy like TIME does!

Notes:

  1. All of the photos in this review show the way the applicator applies the lipsticks. I did not clean up any lines using a brush or concealer, which may not always look perfectly flawless, but I want to keep it real and show you guys exactly what the product looks like, applying it with the applicator it comes with.
  2. All liners suggested are described based on how they match or compare to the Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks once they dry down! Most of these tend to apply and set slightly darker than they appear to be in the tube or when initially swatched, so when I test out liners, I wait a little while to see how it looks next to the lipstick once it’s set, since that’s how it will look when you actually wear it.

Sweet Tooth – Photo taken indoors using indirect sunlight + a ring light.

Sweet Tooth:   This Luxe Matte Liquid Lipstick is described as a “soft, blue-based pink best suited for fair to medium skin tones”. It’s a pale, nude-pink with cool, rosy undertones and a totally matte finish once it dries down. I definitely agree that this is probably most easily worn by itself for people who have a fair to medium skin tone, but as long as you pair this with the right liner to add some depth and dimension, it doesn’t matter what your skin tone is! Anyone can wear a light lipstick if you line it the right way! (I’ll list liner suggestions below).

Sweet Tooth feels lightweight and has the typical whipped texture that all other Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks have. It applies very easily and pretty evenly, although I did have to go over my bottom lip with a little extra product after it set. Color payoff it great, and Sweet Tooth looks just about the same on the lips as it does in the tube. Depending on how pigmented your lips are naturally, it may pull a little lighter or darker on you. Also, depending on your natural skin tone, this could look more or less cool toned. I have pretty fair skin and a more cool/yellow undertone, so on me, it looks like a light, true blue-based pink. Coverage is good, but like I said, I had to layer it a little in the center of my bottom lip to get full opacity, but that’s no big deal and seems to be a common thing with any light liquid lipstick, from any brand. Wear time was between 6-7 hours before I noticed any fading in the center of the lip, and over 8 hours before I had fading occur anywhere else.

Liners:   A few light, pinkish liners that work well with Sweet Tooth and will brighten it a bit are In Synch (lighter and more yellow-pink), Rosy Rim (very slightly lighter and brighter pink), and Dervish (very slightly lighter, a bit brighter, and more cool toned), all of which are MAC Lip Pencils. A few more neutral MAC Lip Pencils that nearly match Sweet Tooth are Soar (very slightly darker and more of a rosy plum), Whirl (slightly darker and more of a dusty mauve), and Boldly Bare (similar, but more warm/neutral). If your skin tone any deeper than medium-dark, you’ll probably want to try a Lip Pencil like MAC’s Chestnut (darker and more neutral/cool brown), Chicory (darker with warmer peachy-brown undertones) or Hover (darker and more cool toned/neutral mauvey-brown).

A few good liners that are not MAC are Melt Cosmetics’ Love Note (very similar in color, but slightly darker), Modest (slightly warmer), and Nudist (darker and quite a bit cooler toned).

NYX also has some nice Lip Liners that are super affordable! Their Suede Matte Lip Liners in Soft-Spoken (darker and more cool toned/plum) and Whipped Caviar (maybe a little darker but pretty much the same shade) both look great with Sweet Tooth, as well as their regular Lip Liners in Nude Pink (a warmer pink), Mauve (slightly darker and more cool toned), and Natural (darker and more cool toned/brown).

619 – Photo taken indoors using indirect sunlight + a ring light.

619:   619 is a “midtone peachy nude best suited for fair to medium skin tones”. It’s a light-medium to medium, coral/peachy nude with warm undertones and a soft matte finish. While this is going to look a little less bold and light on people with fair to medium skin, it’s still very wearable by anyone… Like Sweet Tooth, you just need the right liner to blend it with!

This liquid lipstick feels lightweight and whipped, just like the others in this bundle, so it glides right on without any trouble. Color payoff is excellent, and on me, it actually looks a little brighter once it sets on my lips than it does in the tube. Like Sweet Tooth, it can pull slightly lighter or darker, or maybe more peachy or coral (kind of like it does on me), depending on the pigmentation of your lips and the undertone of your skin. I think that’s always nice, though, because it’s almost like the lipstick transforms to be most flattering on you! Coverage is fantastic and super opaque without using much product at all. I got just short of 7 hours wear time with 619 before I had any fading in the center of my lip, and that was even after more than one cup of coffee. It stayed put on the rest of my lip for a little over 8 hours!

Liners:   If you want to keep this liquid lipstick looking light and bright, you could try something like MAC’s Lip Pencils in Lasting Sensation (lighter and brighter/more coral), or Fruit Cocktail (a little lighter but very similar in color). If you want to keep the lip more muted, you can also go for Boldly Bare (slightly darker and more neutral/brown) or Spice (darker and more cool toned/brown). Chicory (darker, cooler, and more neutral/brown) and Chestnut (quite a bit darker, cooler, and more neutral/brown) are also good liners to use if you want to make 619 look deeper and more muted, or if you have a dark to deep skin tone and want to be able to blend your liner with 619 to make it more wearable.

NYX also has some affordable liners that look great with 619, such as their Suede Soft Matte Lip Liner in Soft-Spoken (slightly darker and more neutral/brown/mauve), and their regular Lip Liner in Natural (also slightly darker and more neutral/brown).

If you want a more high-end option that’s just not from MAC, Melt Cosmetics’ liner in Modest (maybe a little darker, but nearly the same color) is a nice choice.

Luv U A Latte – Photo taken indoors using indirect sunlight + a ring light.

Luv U A Latte:   This shade is described as a “deeper peachy-nude best suited for fair to dark skin tones”. It is a medium to medium dark (depending on who is wearing it), warm toned peachy-nude with some slight almost terracotta-ish undertones and a soft matte finish. This is definitely a versatile type of color and will work with so many different looks and on so many different people! When I’m extremely fair, it does look a bit darker than it does when I’m spray tanned, and also a little more orange, but not in a bad way! It honestly reminds me of a nude version of pumpkin spice latte color, and would be a great fall lip on anybody!

Luv U A Latte has the same glorious, whipped texture as the other lippies from TIME, so it applies well and evenly. Color payoff is awesome, but I feel like it darkens a bit once it sets. Maybe it’s just me? I’m not sure… It’s not an uncommon thing with liquid lipsticks, but it’s also not a problem, in my opinion. I got very full coverage without having to layer this liquid lip at all. It wore well all over the lip for about 8 hours, and I only noticed a teeny bit of fading in the center of the lip around hour 6.

Liners:   Some of my favorite liners to use with Luv U A Latte are MAC’s Lip Pencils in Boldly Bare (pretty much the same color), Spice (very slightly darker and cooler toned/more brown), Chestnut (darker and cooler/more brown), and Auburn (darker and more red/brown but still very pretty if you want some contrast). A few of MAC’s Pro Longwear Lip Pencils also work well with this liquid lip, and wear for a very long time! The ones I like with Luv U A Latte are Nice & Spicy (slightly darker and more reddish brown), and Morning Coffee (darker and more neutral and brown/mauve, but it looks great if you have a medium or deeper skin tone).

A few non MAC alternatives would be Melt’s Modest (very similar), Headbang (slightly darker, cooler and more brown), or French Kiss (quite a bit darker and more reddish-brown, but would look great with this liquid lip on medium-dark to deep skin tones).

NYX’s Natural Lip Liner (darker and more cool toned/neutral brown) also works quite well.

I’m Forever Yours – Photo taken indoors using indirect sunlight + a ring light.

I’m Forever Yours:   TIME describes this as a “neutral mauve best suited for fair to dark skin tones”. It’s a medium to medium-dark, very slightly warm toned pinky mauve with a soft, almost velvety type of matte finish. This is truly one of those colors that looks great on anyone who wears it! On TIME’s website, it says it’s a great choice for brides, which I totally agree with! It’s incredibly versatile and can be transformed to be more pink, more red, more purple, more neutral, or darker, depending on what liner you use with it. I’m Forever Yours is my personal favorite in this bundle and it’s been my go-to lip lately!

The texture of this liquid lip is creamy, lightweight, and consistent with all ofter Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks, so it applies both evenly and easily. The color payoff is superb and I’m Forever Yours looks rich and pigmented on the lips. Coverage is excellent and very opaque using little product. As far as wear time goes, I got around 6-7 hours of wear before this began to fade in the center of my lip, and between 8-9 hours of wear before I noticed any other areas fading. Because it’s highly pigmented, it seemed to fade very gradually, so it’s the type of lipstick that you can doctor up by layering a gloss or balm over it if you’re out and need a touchup but forgot to bring it with you!

Liners:   There are quite a few good liners that you can pair up with I’m Forever Yours… Like I said, you can transform this with all kinds of different colors, but some of my favorites that are a similar color are MAC’s Lip Pencils in Dervish (slightly lighter and more cool toned, but still gives soft definition), Soar (darker and more cool toned), and Whirl (slightly darker and more cool toned/neutral), or their Pro Longwear Lip Pencils in Absolutely It (darker and more cool toned) and Stanchly Stylish (darker and more cool toned/neutral).

NYX also has a couple of great liners that go with this liquid lip! The ones I like most are Nude Pink (slightly lighter and more cool toned), Mauve (darker and more plum/cool toned), and their Suede Lip Liners in Whipped Caviar (a little more cool toned) and Soft-Spoken (darker and more cool toned/neutral).

Melt’s Love Note (nearly the exact same color as I’m Forever Yours) also looks amazing!

Lookin’ Cute, Feelin’ Cute – Photo taken indoors using indirect sunlight + a ring light.

Lookin’ Cute, Feelin’ Cute:   This lippie is referred to as a “deep brown nude best suited for fair to dark skin tones”. It’s a medium-dark to dark, neutral to cool toned brown with a hint of plum undertones. I feel like this may pull warmer and more brown on some people, but no matter what, it’s a stunning color that’s going to be perfect for fall!

This Luxe Matte Liquid Lipstick felt a little thicker in consistency than the others in this bundle, but was still just as creamy and lightweight on the lips. It applies very easily and with this shade, I found that I had to use even less product than with any other of the Nude Spectrum Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks! Color payoff was wonderful, but I do find that this looks darker once it sets on the lips than it does in the tube. Coverage was also great and fully opaque. I didn’t notice any fading until I had this on for 6-7 hours, and it really only wore off in the center of the lip at first, which is typical. As for the rest of my lip, I had zero fading until well into hour 8.

Liners:   You can literally use SO many liners with Lookin’ Cute, Feelin’ Cute, since it has both brown and plum hues to it. More than a few of my favorite MAC Lip Pencils are Whirl (lighter and more plum/mauve, but still gives soft definition without altering the color of the lipstick), Hover (lighter to about the same color, but more brown/neutral and cool toned), Plum (slightly darker and much more cool toned), Half-Red (more pinky/red/brown, but looks really nice and adds a bit of a pop to this lip), Chicory (more reddish brown and warmer toned), Auburn (slightly brighter, more reddish brown and warmer toned), Burgundy (darker, more burgundy, and slightly cooler toned), Mahogany (darker, cooler toned, and more brown), Chestnut (darker, cooler toned, and more brown), Vino (quite a bit darker, cooler toned, and more reddish plum), Currant (much darker, much more cool toned, and more purple), and Nightmoth (considerably darker, more cool toned, and much more of a blackened purple, but this looks great for a vampy look or on deeper skin tones).

If you want to use one of MAC’s Pro Longwear Lip Pencils, you can always grab for Absolutely It (slightly more cool toned and mauve/plum) or Morning Coffee (nearly the same color, but slightly more warm toned/neutral).

Some good liners from Melt Cosmetics are Hex (maybe a little lighter but very similar in color), French Kiss (very slightly darker and perhaps more berry/warm toned) and Kink (darker and more purple/cool toned).

And of course NYX has a Soft Matte Suede Lip Liner that works well with Lookin’ Cute, Feelin’ Cute, which is *surprise* Soft-Spoken (very slightly lighter and more mauve).

Corruption – Photo taken indoors using indirect sunlight + a ring light.

Corruption:   On the TIME website, Corruption is described as a “deep oxblood plum shade that is best suited for fair to deep skin tones”. It is an absolutely stunning deep, cool toned blackened plum with some rich burgundy/oxblood undertones and a matte finish. For me, Corruption is equal to I’m Forever Yours as a favorite from this bundle, and it works well with so many looks from minimal to dramatic. It also flatters any skin tone from fair to deep and will look awesome on anyone this fall/winter (or any other time of year if you’re like me and like to look like a creepy bitch in the middle of summer). Fun fact: If I recall, Corruption was named after a spell that Warlocks cast in the game World of Warcraft, which I’ve played since release, so this gets me right in the nerd feels.

The formula for Corruption felt a little thinner than some of the other Luxe Matte Liquid Lipsticks, but it still applied pretty well. Color payoff is awesome and looks nearly the same as it does in the tube, but this liquid lip sets perhaps a bit darker (not something you’ll find me complaining about). My only issue with Corruption was the opacity… As you can see in the photo above, it looks a little less opaque towards the center of my bottom lip, and I wanted to show that in the photo so you all could see what one quick swipe of product looks like, BUT don’t worry… These layer so easily that it’s a two second fix to add more liquid lipstick and get fully opaque coverage! Corruption wore well for about 6-7 hours before I noticed fading in the center of the lip. As for the rest of the lip, it looked great and wore well for over 8 hours and left no staining when I finally removed it with a makeup wipe.

Liners:   The MAC Lip Pencils that I love with this lipstick are Burgundy (slightly lighter and more burgundy, but it brings out the more reddish/oxblood hues in Corruption), Currant (slightly darker and more cool toned/purple), Vino (slightly darker and more cool toned/purple), Nightengale (lighter, more cool toned, and more fuchsia/purple) Nightmoth (darker and more cool toned/blackened plum), and Cyber World (much darker, more cool toned/blackened purple). Another option for a longer wear time is MAC’s Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in Bespoken For (much darker and more cool toned/purple).

Melt Cosmetics also has two lip liners that I like to use with Corruption, and those are Kink (nearly identical), and Santeria (slightly darker, nearly the same color, but has shimmer).

While I don’t have any NYX or other more affordable, drug store liners for Corruption, I know that when these made their debut, TIME’s boss lady, Ashley Wagner, used L.A. Girl liners in her swatch/try on video, so you can check that out by clicking here!

Thank you all SO much for reading this review! I hope you all like these liquid lipsticks and PLEASE leave me ideas for liner/lipstick combos below or just let me know what you think if you pick these up!

This post expresses my own honest opinion. I purchased these with my own money and did not receive any type of PR or compensation for this review. I hype it because I like it!
