MAC Archie’s Girls – Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners: Photos, Swatches and Reviews

There are four Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners that are being repromoted with the Archie’s Girls collection… Two are part of the Veronica side (Petrol Blue and Designer Purple), and two are part of the Betty side (Black Swan and Lord It Up). These are actually all part of the permanent line so don’t worry if you can’t get your hands on the ones with the special Archie’s Girls packaging!

Keep in mind that the ones I photographed for these posts are the permanent version, so they do not have the special Archie’s Girls packaging… The boxes that the limited edition ones come in are white with the Archie’s Girls logo, while the pencils themselves are a glossy white with cute little hearts all over them.

Betty Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner Labels

Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners have a very creamy texture that’s smudge-able but once they set, they won’t budge! These are one of the few liners that I can wear below my lower lashline that don’t move around and end up smearing and sliding into the little lines under my eyes. I typically get about 8-12 hours of wear with these before any fading occurs. Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners are exactly that too… Intense! The color payoff and pigmentation is really bold so you don’t need much product to get the look you want. Even when you blend these out, they don’t lose that intensity. Along with bold color, these all contain shimmer, which adds to the intensity but makes them unsafe to use on the waterline. Of course you can try it, but MAC (and myself) suggest against it, especially if you wear contact lenses! What can happen is that the shimmer particles get into the eye and can cause scratches and irritation.

The Archie’s Girls version of the Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners are limited edition and available now online at www.maccosmetics.com, or at any MAC counter or store. They contain 1.2 g / .04 US oz of product and sell for $16.50. The ones from the permanent line that do not have the special packaging have the same amount of product and cost $15… So it’s up to you if the cute little hearts are worth an extra $1.50! Honestly, I prefer the limited edition packaging and would have bought them but I don’t need two of the same thing haha.

Designer Purple:   Designer Purple is a “violet with pearl”… It’s a medium-dark purple with red-violet undertones and light, silvery lavender shimmer particles, which are numerous, but not super big or chunky. It’s one of the brighter Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners, but it seems like it sets a bit faster than the others do. It also doesn’t give the super bold color payoff with one swipe, so you may need to build on it a bit. The texture makes that easy to do though and it shouldn’t look heavy even after layering the product.

Petrol Blue:   This is a “deep navy with pearl”… It’s a dark navy blue with lighter, sky blue shimmery bits. There doesn’t seem to be so much shimmer in this one but there’s enough to notice even once it’s applied and even blended out. The bold color of Petrol Blue is the first thing you notice when you apply it… It’s also one of the creamier Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners and glides on easily. I like this color on people with brown eyes… It really makes them pop!

Black Swan and Lord it Up
Black Swan and Lord it Up

Black Swan:   Black Swan is a “black with gold pearl”… It’s a warm black with multidimensional shimmer, as in it looks different depending on the angle you look at it. You can probably tell from the photo that some shimmery bits look silver while others look blue or green. The color payoff is amazing with one swipe of this eyeliner so you don’t need to apply a lot. The texture is super creamy and it blends out easily if you like a softer, more smokey look.

Lord It Up:   This Pearlglide is described as a “bronze with pearl”… It’s a medium-dark, warm toned brown with fine bronze and rosey-golden, shimmery particles. Even though it’s not a super dark liner, it has a smooth texture which makes it easily buildable if you want to look a but darker. It has good color payoff and coverage and is a great liner for a softer, more daytime kind of look. Lord It Up also looks amazing on blue eyed people… There’s something about warm browns and golds that make blue stand out!

MAC Archie’s Girls – Betty Pearlmatte Face Powder: Photos, Swatches and Review

Rather than release several blushes, MAC included Pearlmatte Face Powders in the Archie’s Girls collection, which can be used for several different things… A highlighter, a blush, or an eye shadow. This review is for Betty’s, which is the warmer of the two and is called Flatter Me.

Pearlmatte Face Powders combine a lighter, more pearly base color with darker colored hearts that have a satin finish. The color of the hearts is not just stamped on top either, it goes all the way through to the bottom of the product.

This is MAC’s description of Pearlmatte Face Powders… Hopefully it gives you a clue of what this product is: “Love is in the details with all-new Pearlmatte Face Powder combining pearlized and satin shades to achieve an array of looks. Hearts are adorably stamped onto the base. Effortlessly blends with a rich and creamy texture. Use for highlighting and blush effects or as an Eye Shadow with a velvet-smooth finish.”

Flatter Me Pearlmatte Face Powder

Pearlmattes are super finely milled so they feel like silk on the skin. They’re easy to apply and layer or blend out. They remind me of MAC’s Beauty Powders but feel even more luxurious than those, if that’s even possible! One really nice surprise about these Pearlmattes is that they don’t break easily when dropped, despite the extremely fine milled texture. Trust me, the testers at the store where I work at have been dropped several times and they’re still in one piece!

As with the rest of the products in the Archie’s Girls collection, Pearlmatte Face Powders come with special white packaging… A white box with the Archie’s Girls logo as well as a glossy white compact with the same logo on the lid. The inside of the compact has a mirror, which, like the eye shadow compacts, is a legit mirror that is not the cheap, easily scratched up plastic type. This sturdy type of mirror also hasn’t broken when the testers have been dropped, so I think it’s safe to say that this special edition packaging holds up well in addition to being super cute 😉

Pearlmatte Face Powders are limited edition with the Archie’s Girls collection and are available now. Although Flatter Me is sold out online, you may want to check back atwww.maccosmetics.com later on to see if they’ve restocked it as they sometimes do. Otherwise, check your local MAC counter or store to see if they have some left! Pearlmatte Face Powders contain 10 g / 0.35 US oz of product and sell for $30.

Although MAC says that you can use these as either a blush, highlight, or eye shadow, I find that they work best on the cheeks as a blush or highlighter… You can also apply these as a soft wash of color and sheen layered over a blush (they work well like this with the blushes in this collection). If you want softer color or more highlight, swirl your brush mainly on the base color. If you want more color or want to use this more like a blush, swirl your brush more over the darker hearts.

As a blush or highlighter, Pearlmatte Face Powder wore well for 8+ hours before showing any signs of fading. They don’t emphasize pores or texture, despite the high amount of sheen they have, so these may be a good option for people with larger pores who have a hard time using something like Mineralize Skinfinishes for a highlight. For a more intense, heavy application, use a MAC 116 or 129 brushIf you want a softer color payoff, like to use as a highlighter, try a MAC 188 brush.

As an eye shadow, the lighter base color works best all over the lid or as a highlight for the inner corner of the eye or below the brow. Alone, the hearts yielded very little color and had a dry texture that didn’t want to show up or blend out very well. Sadface!

It’s strange to me how alone, the heart color doesn’t have good color payoff, but you can see a huge difference when you swirl it in with the base color… I’m not one to use the individual colors in a product like this anyway, so it’s really not a problem or fault in the product. Overall I really like the Pearlmatte Face Powders… They seem to be a big hit with this collection, so props to MAC for releasing a potentially confusing product (think Beth Ditto collection Powder to the People) and having it end up as something that’s so versatile, luxurious and fantastic!

Flatter Me:   Flatter Me is described as a “golden peach with coral hearts”… The base color is a warm, light peachy color with a golden sheen, while the hearts are a dark, bold coral with a more satin-like finish. When you combine those two, this Pearlmatte Face Powder transforms into a really lovely warm, soft, light-medium coral with a pearly golden sheen. Since it has better color payoff and coverage than Veronica’s Blush, and also has a warmer tone to it, it works for anyone with fair to medium-dark skintones. Even on darker skin, it would still probably be suitable as a highlighter without appearing too light or ashy.

Rather than release several blushes, MAC included Pearlmatte Face Powders in the Archie’s Girls collection, which can be used for several different things… A highlighter, a blush, or an eye shadow. This review is for Veronica’s, which is the cooler toned of the two and is called Veronica’s Blush.

Veronica’s Blush:   This Pearlmatte Face Powder is described as having a “silvery pink base with deep pink hearts”… The base color is a slightly cool toned, pale silvery pink a fair amount of sheen… And when I say sheen, I mean a glowing, soft kind of sheen. The swatch photo doesn’t really do it justice… It’s much prettier in person! The hearts are a dark, warm pink and have more of a satin to matte finish (if you can even get them to apply well on their own). Mixed together, it shows up as a slightly cool toned, light to medium pink with a gorgeous, pearly sheen. I suggest this for fair to medium-dark skin, as I fear that the silvery tones may make darker skin appear ashy. If you have dark to deep dark skin and want to try this product, layer it over a blush and it should work just fine!

MAC Archie’s Girls – Betty Cream Soda Blush: Photos, Swatches and Review

There are only two blushes total in the Archie’s Girls collection… One for Veronica and one for Betty. Each one works well with the other products on each side of the collection and are both really high quality. As I said before, the products in this collection are top notch and these are some of the best blushes MAC has released with recent collections.

The Archie’s Girls blushes come in the same white boxes with the Archie’s Girls logo on it. The packaging is also special and is a glossy white plastic, rather than the usual MAC black, with either Betty or Veronica on the clear lid of the blush.

Since there is special packaging, it sells for $22 rather than the usual $21 and contains the same 6 g / 0.21 US ozthat other MAC Powder Blushes do.

Cream Soda (Satin):   This blush is a “light neutral coral” with a Satin finish… It’s more of a light, warm, peach with very subtle pink undertones. The satiny sheen doesn’t really show up until you layer the blush a bit… Then you start to see they beautiful, golden sheen. Of course the color doesn’t really show up on anyone darker than a light-medium skintone until you layer it either. It’s definitely best for pale to light skin, as it can look dry and chalky on anyone with more than medium-dark skin. To get good coverage and color payoff with this blush, I suggest applying it with a dense brush like a MAC 116 or 129. It applies very smoothly and doesn’t feel overly powdery, so it’s easy to blend out and doesn’t feel dry on the skin.

Prom Princess (Satin):   This blush is a “midtone violet pink” with a Satin finish… It’s a cool toned, dark pink with violet undertones and a soft, satiny sheen. It’s very buildable and blendable so you don’t have to be afraid of this blush, even if you’re fair skinned… It will work on everyone from pale to deep-dark! The more dense of a brush you use, the more product it will apply. I got about 8 hours of wear with this blush before it started to fade, so that’s pretty good! Obviously color payoff is great and it applies with a soft, semi-powdery texture, which makes it easy to blend out.

MAC Archie’s Girls – Betty Lipglasses: Photos, Swatches and Reviews

There are three Lipglasses that are part of the Betty side of the Archie’s Girls collection… For the most part they go along with the Berry Lipsticks, with the exception of Oh, Oh, Oh Lipstick, which none of these necessarily go with… Anyway, they’re soft, pastel toned Lipglasses that go along perfectly with Betty’s sweet, girly image.

As with the other Archie’s Girls products, these Lipglasses have special packaging. They come in a white box with the Archie’s Girls logo and feature either Betty or Veronica on the clear tube with a white lid, depending on which half of the collection the Lipglass is from. I think the Lipglass packaging is a little more toned down than the Lipsticks are but it’s still super cute!

Archie's Girls Lipglass Box Betty Lipglass Packaging

MAC Lipglasses typically give me about 4 hours of wear before I need to touch up. They’re a somewhat thick, slightly sticky formula, but the sticky feeling doesn’t last long… After you’ve had it on for a bit and it have a chance to warm up and melt onto your lips the stickiness goes away. If they were too runny, they would not be so pigmented or wear as well, so don’t take the thick, sticky feeling as a negative thing! MAC Lipglasses are my favorite formula out of any type of lipgloss out there! These, like other MAC Lipglass, have a subtle vanilla scent but no taste.

These Lipglasses are limited edition with the Archie’s Girls collection and are available now at any MAC store, counter, or online at www.maccosmetics.com. Surprisingly, the only one that is sold out online is Kiss & Don’t Tell. Like other MAC Lipglasses, these contain 4.8 g / 0.17 US oz of product. However, these cost a little more, due to the special packaging, so they sell for $16.50 rather than the usual $15.

Kiss & Don't Tell
Kiss & Don’t Tell

Kiss & Don't Tell on LipsKiss & Don’t Tell:   Kiss & Don’t Tell is a “bright coral” with a soft creamy finish that contains no shimmer. It is a bright, medium, warm toned pinky-peachy coral that gives really great coverage and color payoff. It wore well for about 4 hours and didn’t settle into the lines on my lips or feather at all. In some ways it reminds me of Viva Glam Nicki Lipglass, but it’s not as opaque or intense, and Viva Glam Nicki may actually be a teeny bit lighter. It looks great worn alone but if you want to pair Kiss & Don’t Tell up with a Lipstick from the Archie’s Girls collection, I suggest Betty Bright.

Stay Sweet
Stay Sweet

Stay Sweet on LipsStay Sweet:  Stay Sweet is a “light lavender pink” with a creamy finish and no shimmer. It’s a pale, cool toned, lavender tinged, milky pink. Surprisingly, the milkiness of Stay Sweet didn’t settle into the lines on my lips like those type of finishes usually do. It has great coverage and color payoff too and wore for around 3-4 hours before it started to fade. The perfect Lipstick to go under this Lipglass is Girl Next Door, from the Betty side or the Archie’s Girls collection. Pink Fade is a close dupe to Stay Sweet but is a bit more lavender and cooler toned. Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipglass is also similar once applied, but is much cooler and more purple in the tube.

Summer Sweetheart

Summer Sweetheart on LipsSummer Sweetheart:   This Lipglass is a “light peach” with a creamy finish and no shimmer. It’s a pale, very milky, soft peach color. It gave wonderful color payoff and good opacity, although there is still some sheerness there. Unfortunately, unlike Stay Sweet, the milkiness of Summer Sweetheart did make the Lipglass settle into my lip lines a bit. As I have said before, this can be helped if you wear a layer of MAC Prep + Prime Lip underneath. It applied smoothly and wore well with no feathering, but only for about 3 hours. Since there’s not a perfect Lipstick match in this collection for this Lipglass, you could always wear it alone or use it to tone down Betty Bright Lipstick! It also looks really nice over any nude Lipstick (like Myth or Japanese Maple). In some ways, Summer Sweetheart reminds me of Orange Tempura but I think Orange Tempura may be a little lighter.

MAC Archie’s Girls – Veronica Lipglasses: Photos, Swatches and Reviews

Like the Lipsticks in this collection, there are three Lipglasses each with both the Veronica and Betty sides of Archie’s Girls. The Veronica Lipglasses go perfectly with the Lipsticks, so you can layer them and add some shine if you like. They’re all nicely pigmented and can be worn on their own as well. I’m seriously so impressed with every single product in Archie’s Girls, so pardon me if I can’t stop raving about them!

As with the other Archie’s Girls products, these Lipglasses have special packaging. They come in a white box with the Archie’s Girls logo and feature either Betty or Veronica on the clear tube with a white lid, depending on which half of the collection the Lipglass is from. Feelin' So Good
Feelin’ So Good

Feelin' So Good on Lips

Feelin’ So Good:   Feelin’ So Good is a “deep blackened plum” with a creamy finish and a hint of shimmer. It’s a dark brownish plum, but looks more plummy the more pigment your lips naturally have and contains soft shimmer particles that reflect tones of copper and gold. The color payoff was good… It’s certainly lighter on the lips than in the tube but most lipglosses are like that because they thin out once applied. It was not super opaque but it gave decent coverage and lasted about 4 hours before fading or feathering. My only real complaint with this Lipglass is that it settled into the lined on my lips… That’s easily avoided if you wear MAC Prep + Prime Lip underneath! Feelin’ So Good looks perfect when worn over Boyfriend Stealer Lipstick, which is one of the Veronica Lipsticks from this collection.

Mall Madness:   This is a “midtone pink violet” Lipglass with multi-dimensional shimmer. The overall color is a medium, slightly cool toned plummy pink and the shimmer particles seem to be golden, pink, and magenta. It has good coverage and color payoff for a gloss and gave me a little less than 4 hours of wear before fading. It didn’t settle into the lined on my lips at all and I had no issues with any feathering, even without a liner. MAC Archie’s Girls – Betty Lipsticks: Photos, Swatches and Reviews

MAC released three Lipsticks for each side of the Archie’s Girls collection… Three for Betty and three for Veronica. The Betty Lipsticks are all softer and more pastel-like colors, which makes sense, as Betty is the sweet girl next door. These Lipsticks are certainly more tame than the three that represent Veronica, so I imagine that many people would find these to be more wearable day to day. Two of the Lipsticks are brand new and have never been released before, while Oh, Oh, Oh is a repromote… I bought Oh, Oh, Oh in the past, so that’s why the packaging is the normal MAC type. The one released with Archie’s Girls has the Betty packaging as seen below.

Like the rest of the products in the Archie’s Girls collection, these Lipsticks have special packaging. They come in a white box with the Archie’s Girls logo and feature either Betty or Veronica on the white tube, depending on which half of the collection the Lipstick is from. To me, the packaging is cute and unique rather than outrageously bright or over the top, so you’ll most likely get compliments when you pull this from your makeup bag to touch up!

Betty Lipstick Packaging

MAC Lipsticks typically wear for 4-6 hours… Longer with Prep + Prime Lip and a liner of some sort. They apply smoothly and have good color payoff. MAC Lipsticks have a faint vanilla scent and no taste.

The Lipsticks from the Archie’s Girls collection are limited edition and are available now at MAC counters, stores, and online at www.maccosmetics.com. As far as I know, all but Oh, Oh, Oh are sold out online but MAC is planning on releasing some more stock of them soon on the website, so keep checking back! Like other MAC Lipsticks, these contain 3 g / 0.1 US oz of product. Unlike other MAC Lipsticks, these sell for $16.50 rather than the usual $15 but that’s typical with collections like this that have special packaging.

Betty Bright (Satin):   Betty Bright is a “light vibrant peach” with a Satin finish… It is a medium, warm toned, peachy-pink coral with a soft satiny sheen. It gave good color payoff and coverage and applied smoothly. While I can’t find a perfect dupe for this, it’s similar to a lot of colors MAC releases with Spring collections, so you may want to shop your stash before you rush to get this Lipstick, or at least don’t be too disappointed if you can’t find this one! For a liner, you can use something neutral like Subculture or Naked Lip Pencils from MAC just to define and keep the lipstick from fading or feathering… If you want a bit more contrast or an ombre look, try one like Lasting Sensation or even Cherry. If you like to layer a gloss over your lipstick, either Kiss & Don’t Tell or Summer Sweetheart Lipglass look nice… Both are part of the Betty half of the Archie’s Girls collection.

Girl Next Door
Girl Next Door

Girl Next Door on LipsGirl Next Door (Lustre):   Girl Next Door is described as a “vivid blue pink” and has a Lustre finish… It’s a light-medium, bright, cooled toned pink with a subtle, champagne-tinged shimmer. Honestly… I can’t think of a more perfect, soft girly pink for Spring! It applied smoothly and didn’t tug like some Lustres of the past seem to and gave me about 3-4 hours of wear before fading. It also gave fantastic color payoff! While it’s not opaque, that’s not what I expected in the first place with a Lustre, as they’re intended to be somewhat sheer, but it did cover better than many do… I’m actually beginning to think that MAC has either improved their Lustre formula or I’ve just learned to appreciate it more haha. Since it’s not too light, this is a flattering pink for everyone. You can use nearly any pink liner with this, but I like Dervish Lip Pencil from MAC. If you want to layer a gloss over this lipstick, Stay Sweet Lipglass, which is also part of the Betty side of this collection, is the perfect one! You could also do Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipglass if you want to bring out the cool tones a bit more.

Oh, Oh, Oh
Oh, Oh, Oh

Oh, Oh, Oh on LipsOh, Oh, Oh (Lustre):   Oh, Oh, Oh is a “sheer brown plum” with a Lustre finish… It’s a medium, warm toned bronzed plum with a golden shimmer. This lipstick was previously released, so that’s why the packaging in the photos is different… I believe I bought it with the MAC Me Over collection a few seasons ago. Anyway… The color payoff is decent and it’s not as brown on the lips as it is in the tube. It seems to transform depending on how pink and pigmented your own lips are. I have fairly bright pigmented lips, so it appears more of a pinky-plum on me that it does on some people. The coverage was good and it showed up well with little layering. Oh, Oh, Oh feels a a bit on the drier side but I didn’t notice that it made my lips feel dry after having it on for a while. There are numerous liners that you could use with this, depending on your own skintone and whether or not you want to play up the plum or brown tones to this lipstick, so I suggest playing around with them to find the perfect one! Personally, I like Half-Red Lip Pencil from MAC. Probably sounds crazy, but I like the contrast 😉

MAC Archie’s Girls – Veronica Lipsticks: Photos, Swatches and Reviews

There are three Lipsticks available in each side of this collection… The three in the Veronica half of Archie’s Girls are all bold, which are a perfect fit for all you Veronica’s out there! Purples are the new pinks, so there are several in this collection and I would expect to see more this Spring (or hope to anyway)!

Veronica Lipstick Tube

MAC Lipsticks typically wear for 4-6 hours… Longer with Prep + Prime Lip and a liner of some sort. They apply smoothly and have good color payoff. MAC Lipsticks have a faint vanilla scent and no taste.

The Lipsticks from the Archie’s Girls collection are limited edition and are available now at MAC counters, stores, and online at www.maccosmetics.com. Boyfriend Stealer (Cremesheen):   Boyfriend Stealer is a “deep blackened plum” with a Cremesheen finish. It’s a dark, blackened plummy wine color with a decent amount of sheen to it. It’s not opaque and took some layering to get it to show up as pigmented as it is in the photo above. It went on smoothly, but it feels like it might show off chapped or dry areas if you have any of those. I do recommend wearing a lip primer like Prep + Prime Lip with ANY lipstick though, as it makes it go on smoother and last longer. I got a  3-4 hours of wear before Boyfriend Stealer began to fade. It would wear longer with a liner… I suggest one like Nightmoth, Currant, or Plum Lip Pencil from MAC. This Lipstick looks great when layered under Feelin’ So Good Lipglass, which is also part of the Veronica half of the Archie’s Girls collection.

Daddy's Little Girl
Daddy’s Little Girl

Daddy's Little Girl on LipsDaddy’s Little Girl (Satin):   This lipstick is a “midtone pink violet” with a Satin finish. It’s a medium, bright, slightly cool toned, pinkish fuchsia color with a nice amount of satiny sheen to it. It felt super smooth when applied and lasted a solid 4-5 hours before any fading occurred. I got totally opaque coverage and great color payoff with little product, so that was impressive with a Satin finish. If you want to wear a liner with this, I would suggest a MAC Lip Pencil like Magenta or Embrace Me (which was limited but you may have it in your stash). Another good one is Process Magenta Chromagraphic Pencil from MAC Pro, which is permanent and can be purchased online or at MAC Pro stores. A nice lipgloss to layer over this Lipstick would be Mall Madness Lipglass, also part of the Veronica half of this collection.

Ronnie Red
Ronnie Red

Ronnie Red on LipsRonnie Red (Matte):   Ronnie Red is a “bright red” with a Matte finish… It’s a medium-dark, bright,  slightly cool toned red with a nearly matte finish that has a soft sheen. These type of matte finishes with a sheen have been seen a lot lately with recent MAC collections! In fact, Ronnie Red is sort of like a lighter version of Absolute Power, which came out right after Christmas with the Strength collection. With Ronnie Red, I got completely opaque coverage and great color payoff with one swipe of this lipstick. It gave me over 6 hours of wear, which is awesome! It glided on so smoothly and didn’t show the dry areas on my lips at all. Even after sipping coffee, this hasn’t budged all afternoon and I don’t even have it on with a liner! If you’d like to wear a liner with it, Cherry Lip Pencil from MAC would look nice, as would Brick if you want a bit more contrast. If you’d like to layer a lipgloss over Ronnie Red, Strawberry Malt Lipglass would be perfect and is one of the Veronica Lipglasses in the Archie’s Girls collection.

MAC Archie’s Girls – Caramel Sundae Eye Shadow Palette: Photos, Swatches and Reviews

The Caramel Sundae eye shadow palette is included in the Betty part of this collection… Since Betty is the sweet, girl next door, the colors in this quad are more natural and subdued compared to the Spoiled Rich palette. These eye shadows are suitable for anyone, no matter what your age or skintone. You can achieve anything from a “no-makeup makeup” look to a soft smokey eye with this combination of eye shadows. The Caramel Sundae palette contains very high quality shadows that are soft and easy to blend… This seems to be the more popular of the two eye shadow quads in the Archie’s Girls collection so be sure to pick this one up while you still can!

Not only are the eye shadow palettes in this collection great quality and excellent, usable colors… The packaging is also fantastic! They’re metal palettes that latch firmly so they won’t fly open in your bag or makeup drawer. They also have a sturdy, real mirror (not the cheap kind that get all scratched up), which is a bonus! The Archie’s Girls decoration on the top of this white palette may not be for everyone, but it’s not overdone and super cheesy looking either. All in all, I say this is some of the best packaging that MAC has had in a long time for a collection like this… Way to go MAC!!

Caramel Sundae Eye Shadow Palette

MAC Eye Shadows typically have good coverage, apply smoothly, and offer a decent amount of wear time. For the smoothest application, longest wear time, and best color payoff, I suggest using a primer underneath ANY powder eye shadow! My favorite is MAC’s Painterly or Soft Ochre Paint Pots… They’re both light, neutral colored cream eye shadows. Nothing prevents creasing and brings out the real color of an eye shadow like they do! You can get those from any MAC for $18.50.

The Caramel Sundae palette is available now but is limited edition with the Archie’s Girls collection so get it while you can! I know that it’s still available online at www.maccosmetics.com but it may be sold out at your local MAC counter or store, so you may want to call before you drive all over looking for it. The total weight of product in this palette is 5.6 g / 0.19 US oz, so that’s the usual size for MAC Eye Shadows. This palette sells for $44, which is a good value, considering that individual eye shadows sell for $15 each!

Cheryl Chic
Cheryl Chic

Cheryl Chic (Frost):   Cheryl Chic is a “light coral pink” with a Frost finish… It is a light pink with warm golden undertones and a frosty sheen. It felt incredibly soft when I applied it and blended out easily. The color payoff and coverage were great too! This color is best for the lid or inner corner of the eye. You can even use it very lightly for a brow highlight if you like a bit of shimmer there.

Dreammaker
Dreammaker

Dreammaker (Frost):   This eye shadow is a “pale frosty yellow” with a Frost finish… It’s a pale, creamy, warm, golden yellow with a soft frosty sheen. It felt smooth, just like Cheryl Chic, but did not offer quite as much coverage and opacity. The color payoff was nice and it did look more opaque after some layering. Since this is a light color, I suggest using it on the lid, inner corner of the eye, or as a brow highlight. Dreammaker was released previously in 2008 as a Starflash finish eye shadow… While the color is the same, the finish does indeed look and feel different.

Caramel Sundae
Caramel Sundae

Caramel Sundae (Satin):   The namesake of this palette is described as a “midtone warm tan” and has a Satin finish. It’s a medium, warm toned brown with a soft golden satiny sheen. It’s a kind of average midtone brown color but it’s nice to have in this palette and collection. It applied smoothly and evenly, giving good color payoff and coverage. It’s great all over the lid or used in the crease. I also like this just above the crease to soften and blend out darker colors like Showstopper.

Showstopper
Showstopper

Showstopper (Matte):   Showstopper is a “dark, cool-toned brown” with a Matte finish… It is a slightly grayish, cool, dark brown with a mostly matte finish, although from some angles it seems to have a very soft sheen. The color payoff and coverage were alright but it took some layering to reach full opacity. It’s not as soft as some other mattes, so blending also took a little bit of effort… I found it to be easiest with a MAC 217 or 286 brush. That said, I still really like this color all over the lid for a soft smokey eye or applying a bit in the crease to add depth. It also works well as a soft liner. Showstopper may seem familiar to you… It’s been released several times in different collections and palettes over the past few years.
