iluvsarahii x Colourpop: Chic-y Pressed Powder Eye Shadow Palette
The $aucey palette has a brighter, more dramatic vibe to it than the Chic-y palette, but it can still be used for either day or nighttime looks. If you like a pop of color, you’re bound to love this palette. The Chic-y palette and $aucey palette can even be used together and compliment one another very well, so I like how they did that. If you get both palettes, you will have SO many options to create gorgeous looks with!

Although these are the only two Pressed Powder Shadow Palettes I’ve used from Colourpop, I’m very impressed! I definitely plan on adding more of their shadows to my collection because the texture of these shadows is fantastic and they’re very well pigmented, not to mention super affordable for such high quality makeup!

Alone, the palette costs $12, which is an awesome value, considering that you pay that much for ONE single shadow from Anastasia Beverly Hills, or $6 for a single shadow in refill pan form from MAC. You can also purchase the entire iluvsarahii x Colourpop collection for $54, which includes both eye shadow palettes, three liners, and an Ultra Satin Lip, Ultra Glossy Lip, and Ultra Matte lip that matches each of the liners. Needless to say, that’s a pretty amazing value, especially considering the high end feel that all of Colourpop’s products have.
Each shadow in this palette contains 1.4 g / 0.05 oz of product, which is a total of 5.6 g / 0.2 oz for the palette. To compare this to a few other popular brands, MAC’s single eye shadow refills for their pro palettes contain 1.5 g of product and ABH’s single shadows contain 1.67 g of product. Colourpop is a cruelty-free company and while most of their products are vegan, the $aucey palette is not.
TIP: Pop on a primer before you apply your powder eye shadow for the best color payoff and wear time! My personal favorite is a Pro Longwear Paint Pot from MAC… Painterly, Layin’ Low, and Soft Ochre are good primers shades for all skin tones. After I put on my primer, I like to set it with whatever is left on my powder brush before applying my powder shadow. This little trick is going to make it stay in place all day long!
The packaging for collection and palette is very pretty! The box it comes in is a lovely nude color with a golden, metallic crocodile-type pattern printed on it. The name of the palette is printed on the top of the box, while the eye shadow shades are printed on the back. The palette itself doesn’t have any indication that it’s from the iluvsarahii collab or the pretty crocodile pattern found on the box, which I really would have liked but it’s still very simple (in a good way) and pretty. The palette feels sturdy and has a magnetic flap on the front which, to my surprise, manages to stay closed even when being tossed around in my makeup bag! My only real complaint about the palette itself is that it gets dirty SO easily! The white is modern and looks very nice at first, but once you get anything on it, it tends to stain pretty quickly.
Heavy Glam: On Colourpop’s website, this is described as a “vibrant duochrome orange with a pink flip”. It’s a light to medium, warm peachy-pink that looks mostly peachy-orange but does pick up some more pink tones under certain lighting. While it’s not quite completely frosty or metallic, it’s also shinier than a satin type of finish. It’s very pretty on the lid and inner corner and because orange is opposite purple on a color wheel, this color compliments the other shadows in the palette nicely!
Heavy Glam feels super buttery and applies very easily without having to use much product at all. Color payoff looks just like it does in the pan and coverage is full and even with one layer of shadow (I applied it with a MAC 239 brush). You can also apply this damp if you want it to be extra bold and more metallic. To do so, dip your brush into the shadow and load it up with product, THEN spray the brush with something like MAC’s Fix+ Spray before applying to the lid. Damp or dry, wear time on the lid was about 7 to 8 hours when worn over a primer.
Dupes: It was actually difficult to find dupes for this shadow and the few I found were all from MAC. If you know of any more, please leave me a comment below! Fashion’s Field Day is honestly almost an exact dupe, though the finish is slightly less frosty/metallic. Expensive Pink is much lighter and more of a peachy-golden color. Paradisco is also lighter and much more orange/peachy toned. Sushi Flower is MUCH more pink and less frosted.

Chic Happens: This is a “matte cool mauve”, according to the Colourpop website. It’s a medium, cool toned, dusty mauve with a hint of a plummy undertone and a matte finish. I like to use this as my transition color, either in or just above the crease to soften the lines of some of the bolder colors in this palette. You can use it like that whether you have a lighter or darker color on the lid. It’s also nice to swipe just below the lower lash line for some soft definition.
Like the matte shadows from the Chic-y palette, this shadow felt very soft and was easy to blend without being feeling dusty or dry. It’s very well pigmented, so color payoff is great, as is coverage! In the crease or on the lid, you’ll get full opacity with just a little bit of product. I do recommend applying this over a primer, though, as I had some slight issues with patchiness without using a primer first, so I am going to deduct a point for that. Wear time in the crease was a little over 8 hours, which was about the same as the wear time on the lid.
Dupes: Chic Happens is somewhere between Smarty Pants and Sweetheart, both from Tarte’s Tartelette In Bloom palette, but neither one is a perfect dupe without being mixed. Natural Beauty, from the original Tartlette palette, is actually a much closer match. Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Dusty Rose eye shadow single is a VERY close match, although it’s still a little darker. It was pretty much impossible to find a MAC dupe for this shadow… Blackberry was the closest I found and it’s considerably darker and cooler toned.

Lit: This shadow is a “vibrant metallic purple” and is a medium to medium-dark, slightly warm toned, plummy reddish-purple with a frosty to metallic finish, depending on how you apply it. Applied dry, it’s more of a frost, but if you apply it damp, it ends up looking much more metallic. I love this color all over the lid and blended under the lower lash line for a pop of color. You can even apply this just on the center of the lid with a darker color on either side for a “halo eye” type of look. It’s bright enough to show up and flatter ALL skin tones, too.
Lit felt soooo buttery and smooth so it applied very easily. Color payoff looks exactly as it does in the pan, while coverage is full and opaque whether you use your finger or a flat, dense brush. You can also use a fluffier brush to blend out the edges or pop a little in or above the crease, although it doesn’t wear as long in that area. Wear time on the lid (over a primer) was 8 to 10 hours, but it began to fade in the crease after just 7 to 8 hours.
Dupes: Sangria, from ABH, is very close as far as color goes but it’s a teeny bit darker and also has less of a frosty finish. Plum Dressing, from MAC, is similar and the finish is very close to Lit’s frostiness, but the color is a bit deeper. Also from MAC, Cranberry is close for both finish and color, but has a slightly more reddish undertone. Another decent MAC dupe is Star Violet, which is similar in color and finish, but a little lighter and maybe less intense as far as pigmentation goes.

Razy: Razy is described as a “matte blackened plum” and is a dark, rich, blackened plum with a hint of a warm undertone. I love this color all over the lid for a smokey eye with something like Chic Happens or even Freckles from the Chic-y palette blended out through the crease. It’s also gorgeous to deepen the crease color if you have a lighter shadow on your lid. You can even smudge this under the lower lash line or use it with a dampened angle brush as a liner!
This shadow felt very smooth and not at all powdery, so I didn’t have any fallout issues with it as long as I didn’t apply too much to a fluffy crease brush (like a MAC 224). It’s SUPER pigmented too and the color payoff looks the same as it does in the palette using VERY little product, so go in with a light hand at first, then you can begin to build up the color! Coverage is totally opaque, even just when patted onto the lid with a flat brush like a MAC 239. Of course I use this over a primer, so I get about 9-10 hours of wear on the lid or 7 to 8 in the crease before any fading occurs.
Dupes: From ABH, Beauty Mark is quite similar but a bit darker and has more of a reddish-brown undertone. Aubergine is closer in color, but it has a shimmery, satin finish rather than being matte. I couldn’t find a good dupe in any of the ABH palettes, but I feel like Razy is right in between Rowdy and All Star from the Subculture palette. From Jeffree Star’s Androgyny palette, Androgyny shadow is close, but it’s still a little lighter and more of a warm purple. From Tarte, there are a few dupes; One is Drama, from the Tartiest Pro palette, though it’s a bit brighter and lighter. Another dupe from Tarte is Leader, from the Tartlette In Bloom Palette, which is VERY, very similar. From the brand new Tartlette Toasted palette, Fireside is close, but perhaps more cool toned. From MAC, I’m Into It is a pretty close dupe, but it does have a slightly more reddish undertone. Embark is much more of a deep, reddish brown, even though they look similar in the pan. Deep Damson (available in MAC Pro Pan refills), is similar, but less purple and more of a deep, deep burgundy shade. When applied in the crease and blended out, they’re pretty close, though.
